So lets recap video capabilities so far:

    WP7, 256 ram and 800 MHz single core = 480p30
    WP7, 512 ram, 1.5 GHz single core = 720p30

    WP8, 512 ram, 1.0 GHz dual core = 720p30
    WP8, 512 ram, 1.2 GHz dual core = 1080p30
Then everything upwards is STILL limited to 1080p30. Qualcomm 800 is still 1080p30. It's ridiculous.

If 512 ram and 1.2 GHz dual core can produce 1080p30 would it be a stretch if 1 GB ram and 1.5 GHz dual cores could record 720p60? The same question goes for the Q800 too, but for 2160p30, 1080p60 and 720p120.

WP is greatly optimized and in theory there should be enough processing power. Why can't the likes of Icon, L930, L1530 and AtivSE do it ?

If there is one thing besides data toggle I really want in 8.1 GDR1/8.2, it's this thing.

Mostlikely they just take extreme ammounts of memory or the cameras can't keep up with the speed

Well that was the point. We already have the necessary processing power. And I think an 8.7 MP camera would do 720p60 just fine. Why wouldn't it?

Maybe it is something thas has to do with the lenses themselves.

Just found out today that Nokia 808, a single core 1.3 GHz and 512 ram device (albeit different OS) can run and film without issues 1080p30 clips.

While I know that the lens must have something to do with this (though I doubt it, seeing how the L625 with its 5 MP camera can do 1080), there must be some kind of bottleneck in WP8.1 if this capability still isn't offered.

There are also problems with heat dissipation. My DSLR can't do 1080p 60 fps and all it does is take pictures and shoot video. No phone calls. So it's not surprising to see my phone doesn't do 1080p 60 fps.
