I think Verizon will push the OTA this summer. It pushed out the Black update fairly quickly after the dev preview came out last fall; within two months I believe.

Why is this a secret? Why can't they settle with the carriers and say, look, we have an update and we would like to push it 2 months after RTM, thus you have at least two months to check it. They put up the timeframe and the changelog and it's done. But no.... We will have an update, sometime, this year, we don't even know when, but don't worry, we will have one...

The carriers want to have time to sort out all their ARPU-generating bloatware etc.
One of the reasons I don't buy locked handsets.

They also want to test it on their networks to ensure it doesn't affect security as well as how it affects other users. This can sometimes be problematic, especially when you are talking about MILLIONS of users affected.
Another reason is that setting a hard release date is a double edged sword. If they set the date too soon and the testing finds problems and they have to move back the release date, people get angry and complain. If they set the date to far in advance, then people get angry. Look at what to happened to Microsoft when they set a hard release date for a version of Windows (Longhorn I think), everybody got angry and to quell the anger, they released it before it was really ready... as Windows Vista.

We live in a world with a, "I want my stuff immediately if not sooner" mentality. Sometimes just being patient is all you can do.

My install of WP 8.1 DP is working fine, so I'm not going to complain about how long it takes to release an OS update.

So as per this img. we are in week 29 in most places and in aus week30. For most of the models the rollout started earlier this week and for the 925,1020 and 1520 it is about 11/2 weeks. So how accurate is this windows BLUE OTA. Experts?

But that's the point. We have already been "testing" the OS for Verizion for months now and, as you just stated, you're not having problems. Verizion should accept that the OS works on their network and only test the Cyan firmware update. If no problems there, then release the package already!
