How long do we have to wait for the Lumia Cyan to be officially released for the dp users?! It's getting frustrating! Using the Nokia software recovery tool is such a hassle. 8.1dp>8>8.1, omg who has the time!

They should start thinking about the others too. Heck they already announced the release date of 8.1 gdr2 dp! They should release cyan asap.

    I have a Lumia720 (Region: India)
Day before yesterday, I started facing issue with my micro sd card and had to remove it since all my apps, music, photos were on it. So, I saw this as a good opportunity to downgrade from WP8.1 preview for developers to the normal WP8.1 Cyan update.

    Before you start:
    - Backup all your photos.
    - Nokia Recovery Software is like a phone reset and will delete everything from your phone.
    - Make sure your phone settings are on backup - for SMS, Apps, etc
    - Phone should be sufficiently charged.

Here's the steps which I followed:
    1. Downloaded the Nokia Recovery Software (~19MB) and installed it on my laptop
    2. Start the Nokia Recovery Software and connect the phone to the laptop via USB
    3. The software told me which WP version was available for my phone.
    4. The software downloads a 1.5 GB pack on to the laptop first. (Download time depends on your internet connection)
    5. Once the installation starts, it took 30 mins (at max) to completely reset the phone, delete everything and install the cyan update. I had kept the phone connected to laptop the entire time.

After installation, the phone will restart and then the Register the phone process will start. I selected the "Retrieve my apps" option, so after completion, all my apps started downloading over Wifi for installation. I had to manually cancel few apps from downloading which were not important. Since my SMS etc were on backup mode, so I was able to retrieve all of them.

Phone is working well at the moment. Also, one good thing is that the internal storage marked as "Other" has been deleted and more space is now available on the phone.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello there everyone!

I feel like this issue isn't being given enough attention.

Microsoft halted the Lumia Cyan update for those on the Developer Preview because a small fraction of the users who used Bitlocker Encryption on their devices were facing problems. However, since then there has been no solution to this problem.

We were simply asked to downgrade our devices using the Nokia Software Recovery tool. However, this is not an option for everyone.
This process requires us to connect our devices to our PCs and download a 4GB update, and then risk flashing our phones.
While this may not be a problem for everyone, it is indeed for many.

Many people can not connect their phones to their computers since the WP8.1 Developer Preview Update. Many don't have an internet connection that would allow them an uninterrupted 4gb download. Also, many simply don't have the time.

I myself have a 1020 which can not connect to the PC since the DP update. I have posted threads in hope of resolving this issue, but after many unsuccessful trials I came to the conclusion that this must be a driver issue for certain devices, and can only be fixed by proper drivers brought by the Cyan update. My 1020 suffers from terrible battery life since DP, and I can not connect it to the PC to downgrade. Please refer to this thread for this issue: http://forums.windowscentral.com/win...-1-dp-wp8.html

Don't you guys think that Microsoft must at least give us a status report or an estimated date on this issue?
I fear that the battery on my phone might get physically damaged if this drain due to WP8.1 DP continues for a long time. The Cyan update is available for my device in my country, but sadly I can't download it because I am on Developer Preview. We were the beta testers of the update, and now it is we who are being screwed over

EDIT: Some clarification- I am not asking Microsoft to release an unfinished or buggy Cyan update immediately. All I am asking for is a confirmation, and reply to this situation telling us that "Yes, we are still working on a fix and will roll out the update in about __ weeks," or "A fix is indeed in the works but we can't provide an estimated release date." At least this will help us know that MS hasn't forgotten about this issue and really is working on a fix.
    its 2.64gb not 4gb
i thought DP users could upgrade to cyan from this week.. :O
this is really not done on ms's part, they should release a fix and ensure it applies to further dev previews as well

No, we still can't upgrade. I'm still on Update 1 of 8.1 and oh, resuming resuming resuming .... I see resuming every day more than enough but Microsoft forgot how to resume on the Cyan update.

Can I borrow an iPhone somewhere? :D

This is so irritating. If DP was going to be such a f*** up then they should have warned us. Absolutely no communication. What's the point of having an unbranded , unlocked phone on DP when the people on official releases are getting firmware updates before you!!!
And this is why we can't have nice things! People like you that renege on the terms and start screaming and shouting at a manufacturer. Do you think that will help??? Nope, what is the name again oh yeah DEVELOPER. Oh so and non developers and people with an attitude start using it too and do not know what the heck they're in for? Ok so we will just pull the stuff and put it behind an MSDN subscription to keep whiny bastards from getting it.

Now with the Nokia Recovery tool it is direct 8.1 DP -> 8.1 Cyan . It will not revert to 8.0 (Black). Based on my experience today with my Lumia 625 on India.

I got cyan installed directly by using the Nokia Recovery tool in my Lumia 625 today. It was quiet surprising for me. I was expecting it to be the Black edition & then to go through 3-4 updates until Cyan is installed. But now in 1 shot it is Lumia Cyan .I had posted a separate thread on this and waiting for moderators to approve.

Ofc it is erased. the only thing that is back is the partly onedrive stored stuff.
apps for example that are not in your store anymore are not going to be back on the system. also settings and game stats are all going to be gone.

How about you app data? And another thing, is it will be hard if not impossible to download the Nokia recovery tool here in my country, data services here are poor and very costly.. Just wish MS would just flip the switch and get it over with
