static wifi in 8.1

I have Lumia 1520 running with 8.1 preview for developers but I don't see static wifi option should I wait for any frimware update plz help me out guys

Re: static wifi in 8.1

I think it was rolled out for few devices, one I know is L 525. I now have L 730 and can see this option available on 730 too.

Re: static wifi in 8.1

Go to "Settings", then "Extras+Info" and see if it Black or Cyan. Static IP was rolled out for selected phones having Cyan firmware.

Re: static wifi in 8.1

If its available for 1520, then check for phone update and see if a new update for your phone is available. If you are running everything to the latest version, then its not available for 1520.

Re: static wifi in 8.1

I think it was disabled again in a later update as I haven't got this in my 930 with cyan and 8.1 DP.

Annoying.....

If your router supports it, you're better off using DHCP address reservations.

For normal connections then yes, but at my workplace I use VPN to get around site blocking issues, but they also use OpenDNS to block at a DNS level. Being able to set an alternative DNS would overcome this.

Or! Turn off WiFi and use your cellular service?

Mmmmm.... You don't live where I do then! 4G(LTE) then forget it! 3G.... it's patchy.... especially in my office at work :-(

It's not them it's MS as I run CV firmware.....
So the OEM in your case (Nokia) turned it off then. Ability to configure static IP is an option in the OS but OEMs and carriers have the ability to specify whether it's available.
