    Hi all
I am trialling Windows Phone for two weeks (from Android) and am seeking a number of alternative apps. I’ve used the tool at http://xyo.net/lumia/android/?inclWP8=True as well as my own knowledge to come up with a range of alternatives (e.g. 6tin for Tinder etc).

Would anyone be able to offer any alternatives for the remaining priority apps below, or workarounds ? For anyone’s interest, I have also included other missing apps that are lower priority or just cannot be replaced

    Many thanks!

Seeking third party apps – Priority
Doods Music Streamer – free grooveshark client, allows listening to music on grooveshark while using other apps
GReader – RSS reader that intelligently retrieves full articles (where most RSS feeds will only give a one paragraph summary) and provides offline reading of those articles
Llama – Powerful rules system for automatically changing settings on your phone, including time and location initiated changes. (e.g. switch on/off WiFi when entering/leaving home)
London Tube Assistant – Type in your start/destination points for London underground, and it will tell you the optimum carriages to sit in for changeovers and exits from stations.
Privy Chat for Facebook – lets you quickly read FB messages without marking them as "read" – so read new messages without others knowing you’ve read the received message.
Pushbullet – App that sends mobile notifications (i.e. action centre items) to your PC/laptop for quick dismissal or replies [other apps seem to allow pushing of weblinks etc to your PC, but not dismissal of your mobile notifications)

Seeking third party apps – Non priority
Background changer – app that changes the start screen background automatically (eg at set times)
Calendar snooze – app that allows you to set custom calendar snooze times
Citymapper – powerful navigation tool for public transport, walking and taxi
Prey – third party app for locking, remote swiping and finding lost/stolen phones
Squawka – Proprietary soccer statistics data
TVCatchup – Watch UK TV (freeview) channels live

    Other missing apps
    Hungry House
    Pizza Express
    Google keep
    Pizza Express
    Pure Gym
*Sky Go – this one is a big loss!!
Snapchat (I’m aware of the third party apps and Snapchat trying to have them removed – do not use much anyway)

    Doods Music Streamer
SharkPhone (Grooveshark Client) Try it but no idea how good or bad it is.

    Nextgen Reader (RSS Reader)

Llama << Won't happen, apps can't change settings in WP.

Most (very very) likely coming with Windows 10.

    Background changer
Awesome Lock (No way to change start background automatically, but lock screen bg changing is possible)

    Here City Lens (Try it)

That's great thankyou, I'll check these out and report back.

Funny I was reading last night too that W10 is expected to have a unified notifications centre with mobile so that's good news.

Thanks again for suggestions. Unfortunately NextGen Reader was not suitable (it gives access to full articles, but does not download them for offline viewing.... unless I am missing a setting somewhere!). And SharkPhone may have been great... but apparently Grooveshark shutdown today.... bad timing! Grooveshark music-sharing service closes down - BBC News

    Still seeking third party apps

    Calendar snooze
    Privy Chat for Facebook

✔/✘ Background changer - No background changer. Awesome Lock for lockscreen changer.
*✔ London Tube Assistant - Exit Experts London / Underground Pro
✘ Llama – Never gonna happen
    ✔ Pushbullet - Possible solution in WP10

    *App is not free

As for Pushbullet you can try the app I had created called "Pushpin" - I've worked with the Pushbullet devs to build out the app following their correct API processes. They have also been kind enough to provide real time push notifications to my app for all Windows Phone users.

Pushpin | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

The product site is located at Pushpin for Pushbullet - Windows Phone 8.1 Application
