Update Error Code 8007041D, how can I fix this?

Good day fellow microsofties

I have, or rather my laptop has an issue with updates.
It's been a just 2-3 days now that I've noticed that my pc starts to lag at times too, not sure if this is related to the same issue.

When I want to check for updates in windows update, it gives me the above error code and I can't check for updates or check for update history. Only thing I see is a Microsoft office update on 12th May when I check for "installed updates". However I do recall installing some updates after that...not sure what or when but yeah.

I googled (yes, Bing is pretty much useless in Switzerland) it, but didn't find anything useful online. Do any of you have any idea what it could be and if there is a solution available?

My OS is Windows 8.1 and I've always installed all updates (and I reserved my copy of windows 10, perhaps could that be the problem?)

Thanks, that seems to have fixed the problem. Only thing it keeps saying is service registry is missing or corrupt and that it has not been fixed.
Though I suppose if I don't run into any other issues I can ignore that.

Not sure but just in case make a back up.

Maybe run the fixit again.

Or if there are more problems you could do a system refresh without influencing data.

Or just set back your computer to an earlier restore point.
