    Hello everyone.
I decided to create this post to share my experience with you.

Few times ago, my girlfriend was searching for a new phone. She didn't want a WP because she does not like it the UI. She ended up purshasing a Motorola Moto G, a mid-range Android phone running Lollipop. First I was not impressed when I saw the phone, but well, it has the Mixradio app providing a way better music quality than the WP app. Then I surprised myself playing with this small phone few times with the apps we're used to, including Here maps.

I'm using Windows Phone since the HTC Mozart is out... It means a lot of time. I'm a Lumia 930 user, I should say I was... Because I ended up buying a Moto X 2nd generation.

Last months I was becoming more and more frustrated with the app situation in WP. Even when we have official apps like Spotify, they're not running in a smooth wat, even with a powerful device as the 930. More recently we saw Mixradio and Here going to other platforms (even Cortana will do it soon)

The Moto X is also a high end device, have some of the good specs of the 930, the pictures are less good, but the screen is far away better. The luminosity can go really high, and really low, something that the Lumia 930 can't do, even if the 925 I had before could do that.

The best part ? I synced my Outlook contacts without problem, keeped my Microsoft apps as Onedrive and Xbox Smartglass, Mixradio and Here. It even have a Glance screen ! Something the 930 can't realize... Again.

Here some shots to show you what I'm talking about.

This is just my experience I'd love to share with you all guys. I'm still a Windows person, and I really hope MS will release a rocking W10 flagship in the coming months. I also hope the apps frustration will be gone at this time with W10.

    See you soon !

Enjoy your Moto! I currently own the 1st gen Moto X and it a nice phone. The 2nd gen I can imagine being even better. I like the twist to open camera and then another twist to switch to the front camera. Although I feel my L830 has a better camera, I like the speed in the X.

    Moved to appropriate area...

I always say if you are going Android, go Nexus. However, I like the look and value of the new Moto series (E, G, X) quite a bit.

    Thanks for the report.

I also have the first generation Moto X. I haven't noticed any difference between the camera quality of it and the Lumia 920. I'd think the 830 would have a better camera.

I also like twist to open camera.

The Moto devices also run stock Android. But you're right that the Nexus devices get updates sooner than any other Android devices.

Thanks for the tip RunoredNoy, but the Nexus 6 were to expensive and big (6 inches...)

With the X in standby, twist (or double twist however you want to call it) and it will launch the camera. While in the camera, do it again and it switched to the front camera. I actually only discovered that like 4 months ago, after having the X for 1 year and a half lol

It really isn't that much of a difference in the quality of details, they're pretty close, but I like the overall coloring and how the pictures look from my Lumia. I was on a trip and took some pictures of the scenery and while both cameras performed well, I favor the ones from my 830.

As a 1520 owner I think that is strictly a matter of opinion.

I loved the flexibility and support of the Nexus 4 I owned. I think in many ways (especially with updates and ROMS) it is still relevant, as a Nexus 5 would also be.

There are going to be two new Nexi this year, a big one from Huawei and a smaller one from LG.

My wife used the Moto X 1st Gen for a year, and then the 2nd Gen for the last half year. She uses the double twist to open the camera all the time, but I wonder if she knows about this. I didn't know it! Thanks!

I agree. As Laura said, the Moto series is about as close to Nexus as you can get without actually being Nexus. But updates are a bit slower sometimes. The experience, however, is pretty much the same. There's little bloatware, and what there is is mostly Motorola's additions which are actually useful for the most part.
