I purchased a couple of cheap ND4 and ND8 filters from ebay in order to use with my 1020 to photograph long exposure shots of water. I wasn't expecting great results considering the cost and source of the filters and my expectations have been met. However, I have managed, with my extremely limited knowledge of Photoshop, to 'save' a couple of photos that had quite bad colour cast. The end result isn't particularly brilliant but good enough for me.

There are a few photos where some parts of the water are completely overexposed and when I attempt to remove the purple colour cast, it just makes the overexposed areas appear even worse.

Here is one of the untouched photos in question:

Note the cast and overexposed areas which stick out quite a bit.

I appreciate it's not a Pulitzer prize winner but I would like to know if it can be saved please? If yes, how would I go about doing so please?

To remove the colour cast, I have been using the Photo Filter from a new adjustment layer, then editing hue/saturation from another. The results vary depending on the photo but it has given me a couple of decent results so far. That's most probably not the best way to do things but like I said, I'm not well versed in Photoshop. If there's a better and more effective way to remove the colour cast, I would appreciate finding out please.

    Thanks..

    Nick

I can improve the image to this with a little tinkering:

It's an improvement but the overexposed areas are still an issue so I really could do with a little guidance here please.
