I've noticed Verizon has enabled simultaneous voice & data for some of its new android phones over LTE, anyone heard if this phone has the hardware and software to support this?

Verizon's LTE network supports Data and voice at the same time AS LONG as you have LTE coverage. If you fall back on their 3G/CDMA network, it does not support both.

With that being said, part of Verizon's demand from phone providers is that ANY LTE phone will support Voice and Data at the same time. It's possable that some of the very first android devices didn't support it but, all devices going forward will.

So, yes, the new Samsung ATIV S will support both (I dont even need to read the specs because VZW would not carry it unless it did)

(Just as AT&T/GSM has supported all along)

Really ? LOL, Interesting...

The iPhone 5 also cannot do simultaneous LTE and voice on AT&T. It drops down to HSPA+ when you're surfing on a call. It doesn't have a third antenna to support it - just has two. On Verizon, the third antenna is used for CDMA voice. LTE requires two antennas. The iPhone 5 only has two, so no simultaneous data and voice on Verizon and no LTE while using voice on GSM networks.

Actually there are some Verizon phones that do support simultaneous voice and data over Verizon's 3G/EVDO network (without wifi or LTE connection), like the HTC Thunderbolt, HTC Rezound, and Moto Razr HD.

And others like the Moto Bionic, which can do simultaneous voice/data only in LTE areas, or 3G with Wifi connection.

It will be interesting to see how the Ativ S goes.

EDIT: The Razr HD and Ativ S both use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon MSM8960. So, its very possible that the Ativ S will work similarly.
EDIT2: then again, looking at thses FCC docs -> https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...me=N&application_id=168039&fcc_id='A3LSCHI930 table 1-2 of the RF Exposure 1 document appears to indicate it needs LTE or Wifi to do simultaneous voice/data.
