Why are you bothering to comment in the Samsung section anyway?

Not all people are rich enough to buy a new phone every week like you!!!!

Oh I get it, you're just trollin!!!

I see no trollin' intent either, he might've had an ATIV at some point for all we know.

Buy a lumia for the same money, and settle for a phone without things like NFC, 2 cams.. Or maybe settle for a lower capacity battery, 512 MB, no removable battery, a smaller screen, no removable SD card etc etc..
If you don't like the color of your ferrari, you could always buy a Lada instead, right?

Posting a single comment in a discussion without any context like this most def. consist of trolling.

Posting a one line comment that reads "Buy a Lumia and improve your experience" in another manufacturers section on these forums, then being such a coward that you won't come back into the thread and explain yourself, knowing that it's an inflammatory comment is the very definition of trolling.

I've not been an easy decision. In fact, now I'm not sure about my new acquisition, but Ativ S has been the problem and the start point to look for other alternatives. 930 is limited to 32 gb (I usually use more), and 1520 too big (I've got it in basket some days). I like windows phone. Firstly I chose it as a transition phone to a bigger iphone. Now I like wphone a lot and I'm going to give a try to android. It's a risk but ativ s is now owned by my wife (she had got an Lumia 620 bought by me) It'll be here and I can follow its way. When one day Samsung wants to release the update I'll install it.

In what way? There are carriers who aren't pushing updates available to their current Lumia line.

    *cough* Verizon Wireless *cough*

Exactly, so it's buy an ATIV S and not receive updates or buy a Lumia and not receive updates. Decisions, decisions!!!

My wife's grotty little Lumia 520 is happily running 8.1 ... whilst I can understand you feeling (justifiably) "twisted and bitter" I don't think what you say is strictly correct.

Of course, it cannot help that Microsoft and Samsung continue to bicker their way through court case after court case ... the latest being a paltry (in the greater scheme of things) claim for $7m of lost interest which Microsoft has just brought. The two organisations must dislike each other intensely!

I finally bought a 1520 a month ago and thought once i had it Samsung surely would push out 8.1 but obviously there's nothing coming from that side anymore. Damn sad because the ATIV S was definitely a very good phone and still is.

There is a big difference in size. How do you feel with 1520?

I use on my Ativ S OS 8.10.14176.243 and Firnmware 2424.13.10.1, hardware 15.15.1.0. I had also lot of problems with the camera bug.
I found out , if a disable the SD card or change the settings to store the photos and videos in internal memory the camera works much better, no crashes when switching between video and photo, no flash problems, no black screen.

The only bug still exist is when I exit the camere app and start again i get black screen. Also a restet in Settings-applications-camera doesnt solve this problem

Maybe this is helpful for some of you, to get the camera app more stable.

OK. Silly question for you.. Have you heard about the court cases between Nokia and Microsoft? No, you probably haven't. That's because there are none. Still, with updates before Cyan, Nokia was always LAST to provide updates/firmware. This time, Nokia is first, for the first time actually in WP 8 history, and oh wow, Samsung doesn't get the firmware update first - it must be because of all the lawsuit issues..!

It might be me, but that just doesn't make any sense at all and is just pure speculation.

Also, regarding lawsuits.. Check out Apple. Lawsuits seem to be normal nowadays in the mobile markets. Usually something regarding patents. The only ones winning are the patent trolls. And since Nokia is now Microsoft.. You can just wait for them to get in trouble with Apple and Samsung over and over about futile things like the way a button looks.. It's just the way the industry work right now.

This does not work for me, I had from the start turned on "store photos in internal memory" and the flash problem does not go away.

just bought a 1320 (6" screen, 1GB, SD card, but no removable battery) for €199. My ATIV S cost €250 a year ago. What's your point again? I like my ATIV S, but i'm making a point of NEVER buying a samsung phone again while they have control over their own updates.
