Just downloaded update 1 for dev preview, so hopefully a step closer to Samsung releasing firmware. Just an aside...had to start using android at work last month due to work specific apps/portal & google docs. Hard to switch back and forth. I sure miss using my Atjv S on a regular basis!

I had a different error but i solved it by disabling preview for developers and enabling it again.

I've tried looking for updates. Even disabled/enabled Dev preview... but the check for updates just hangs... Any ideas ?

LE: Scratch that, I'm downloading it now... just had to install an app from the marketplace, weird though...

As of now, Update 1 seemed to fix my broken camera. At least I couldn't manage to crash it. Even the flash & screen orientation bungs seem to be fixed.

The bugs are still there, if you want to crash it... simply switch between picture and videos a few times. This still needs samsung official firmware.

"Thank you for contacting Samsung Customer Support.

We are sorry to learn of the difficulty you are experiencing with your Samsung product. I have enquired into your request with our product specialist they have advised this update can only be released by Microsoft. Once they have released the software that is compatible with your device you will receive an alert."

Sounds like a generic response but from that it sounds like they have completed the update and are waiting for Microsoft to roll it out, I'm going to reply and see what else I can find out.

Can only hope for the same in Canada probably the same timeframe as gdr2 took most likely but if it takes the same amount of time like gdr3(probably because of datasense) I could see them bundling 8.1rtw with gdr1

Well it might be a generic response, but they have various generic responses regarding specific issues or questions. So, you got my point ... But anyway this is a good news indeed

Samsung's Windows Phone 8.1 app includes new features for the rear camera

Samsung's ATIV Camera app is for its Windows Phone 8.1 handsets, and is listed on the Windows Phone Store as a test submission.
Some of the features for the rear snapper coming from the Samsung app include Auto, Beauty Face, Best Photo, Best Face, Rich Tone (HDR), Eraser, and Night Shot. The video features include the ability to grab a still shot from video, Smooth motion and Slow motion.

Since the app is for Windows Phone 8.1 flavored models only, you will have to wait for Sammy to roll out a firmware update first, followed by the actual Windows Phone 8.1 update. We expect the Samsung ATIV S, Samsung ATIV SE, and the Samsung ATIV S Neo to be recipients of the new Windows Phone build.

If you own one of Samsung's Windows Phone flavored handsets, you should be looking forward to all of the new features that your phone will receive.

I hope it comes soon... I love this phone.

i don't wanna be the "corrector" all the time, but when you post things like this, you might wanna specify what Os are you running.
For example, Are you running the WP8.1 DP and got this update, or you are running WP8 GDR2 and finally got the GDR3, or you are running WP8 GDR3 and you are installing the newest official WP8.1 with Samsung's firmware for 8.1. Got the point right?
But, since you are hoping for the camera fix, i can assume that you are running WP8.1 DP, since ATIV S's running that, occurred the camera bug. Am i right?

Yes, I have WP8.1 DP, but is not installing, i am having the same problem, 0x80188308 error.
I tried what the other guys did but did not work.
Anyway, I will keep trying to install it, it might work at the end.

Installed GDR1 over my DP8.1 without problems, new live folders are beautiful, camera firmware bug still there of course.
