*cough* Verizon Wireless *cough*

Exactly, so it's buy an ATIV S and not receive updates or buy a Lumia and not receive updates. Decisions, decisions!!!

My wife's grotty little Lumia 520 is happily running 8.1 ... whilst I can understand you feeling (justifiably) "twisted and bitter" I don't think what you say is strictly correct.

Of course, it cannot help that Microsoft and Samsung continue to bicker their way through court case after court case ... the latest being a paltry (in the greater scheme of things) claim for $7m of lost interest which Microsoft has just brought. The two organisations must dislike each other intensely!

I finally bought a 1520 a month ago and thought once i had it Samsung surely would push out 8.1 but obviously there's nothing coming from that side anymore. Damn sad because the ATIV S was definitely a very good phone and still is.

There is a big difference in size. How do you feel with 1520?

I use on my Ativ S OS 8.10.14176.243 and Firnmware 2424.13.10.1, hardware 15.15.1.0. I had also lot of problems with the camera bug.
I found out , if a disable the SD card or change the settings to store the photos and videos in internal memory the camera works much better, no crashes when switching between video and photo, no flash problems, no black screen.

The only bug still exist is when I exit the camere app and start again i get black screen. Also a restet in Settings-applications-camera doesnt solve this problem

Maybe this is helpful for some of you, to get the camera app more stable.

OK. Silly question for you.. Have you heard about the court cases between Nokia and Microsoft? No, you probably haven't. That's because there are none. Still, with updates before Cyan, Nokia was always LAST to provide updates/firmware. This time, Nokia is first, for the first time actually in WP 8 history, and oh wow, Samsung doesn't get the firmware update first - it must be because of all the lawsuit issues..!

It might be me, but that just doesn't make any sense at all and is just pure speculation.

Also, regarding lawsuits.. Check out Apple. Lawsuits seem to be normal nowadays in the mobile markets. Usually something regarding patents. The only ones winning are the patent trolls. And since Nokia is now Microsoft.. You can just wait for them to get in trouble with Apple and Samsung over and over about futile things like the way a button looks.. It's just the way the industry work right now.

This does not work for me, I had from the start turned on "store photos in internal memory" and the flash problem does not go away.

just bought a 1320 (6" screen, 1GB, SD card, but no removable battery) for €199. My ATIV S cost €250 a year ago. What's your point again? I like my ATIV S, but i'm making a point of NEVER buying a samsung phone again while they have control over their own updates.

Hello
I have just received a WP update and - short after - the WP 8.1. I live in Brazil and bought my unlocked ATIV S in Spain.
Here is my phone info, after the first update (before that I had the GDR3). My CSC is ATO (Austria).
Samsung ATIV S | GT-I8750
OS Version: 8.0.10532.166
Firmware: 2424.13.10.1

Hardware: 15.15.1.10
Radio Software: 24.24.13.9.1
Radio Hardware: 0.0.0.800
Boot loader: 13.08.14.16

After the WP 8.1 install:

OS Version: 8.10.14157.200
Firmware: 2424.14.9.3

Hardware: 15.15.1.10
Radio Software: 24.24.14.9.3
Radio Hardware: 0.0.0.800
Boot loader: 14.09.3.16

I hope it helps!

After googling your firmware version I find only your post.
Are you using preview for developers?
Could you post a screenshot?

Looks like that's what we were waiting for. I'm on ATO too, but running the preview, perhaps that's what's keeping it from updating.

I can confirm that javicpb has indeed got the firmware to support WP8.1 as the first firmware and bootloader versions are the same as mine and I'm running the WP 8.1 Update Preview.

I can confirm this. My wife has AtivS. I got it from Amazon.de. Csc is set to ATO. No preview for developers installed. It is running on GDR3. I checked for update now and it is here. But i cant download it because my wifi on my router is not working. Remove preview for developers and then check for update. Sorry for my bad English.
