Yeah, I am wondering that too.
You can put the Person Hub over there or Weather or Notifications for Text Messages/WhatsApp or shortcuts for system settiings.

There you go MS & Samsung, now you got some ideas.

It could also be used the same way as Android, flash different colours for phone calls based on the contact that's calling.

My ATIV S has died. Specifically screen. So yes, I still can help via email.
My new phone - Blackberry Q10. Don't ask why :D

Well, there are unlocked 16GB models out there for 150 euros :) brand new :)
But i think you will wait secretly in hope Samsung produce ATIV S2 and get it, hehe, I know i will, no matter how much it will cost, I'm all in.
Anyway, what happen to the screen? there are 40-50 euros brand new original displays on AliExpress. this is just in case information :)

Hello there!
I've updated to Windows 10 again (10149). It's -almost- usable.
Even though it was much better than the last time (10136), I've faced the following issues:
- manual apn (there are only about ten to choose from)
- reboot when adding a picture to an mms
- loosing network and having to restart to get it back
- could not properly configure mms settings (settings not properly saved)
- lock screen that would hang occasionally (phone is alive but you cannot unlock, needs a restart)
- the navigation app is not yet usable but is very well done (could not find traffic, wants you to cross white lines, voices are too low, ativ became very hot etc...)
- changing start screen colors may force reboot your ativ
- start screen wallpaper may be not saved
- long or infinite resuming on certain occasions
- some app crashes (but not systematically)

on the positive side:
- not as slow as previous build
- Outlook email client seems better thant 8.1's
- camera works (artifacts on saving pictures but fine when viewing them)
- bluetooth works (seems ok using a bluetooth speaker)
- wifi works
- call works

It would be nice if you can test for us the new Windows 10 Mobile Build 10166.

Check out last question from #AskDanWindows Episode #2 9m6s
https://youtu.be/RteqVh9t9jo?t=9m6s

So there is still some hope of a new Sammy WP device!

I think there is considering how poorly the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge has been doing. One thing that Samsung could potentially do is make an ATIV S2 as a Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge variant, that would cut down on engineering costs as the hardware is already developed. Don't forget that the ATIV S was really a Galaxy S3 running Windows Phone.

antenna or not
the basic question is
would Samsung enable LTE on a nearly 3y. old mobile phone?
The answer is.... :)
the answer is: "Microsoft Now Rolling Out Firmware Update To Enable 4G In Select Lumia Devices In India"
google for more details, I don't know if links are allowed

yeah but there is a BIG difference between Microsoft and Samsung WP. Microsoft wants to get more publicity (users), Samsung not.
