is there any way to turn the phone on with just the charger. over charged the battery and now its swollen and the back wont go on?

Modern Li-pol batteries have a built in circuit to prevent overcharging. If your battery has become swollen then it is defective and should be replaced immediately.

Same deal. All modern rechargeable batteries use this tech. I wasn't sure whether it was a Li-on or Li-pol battery and just went with the latter as a guess.
