I wish. I just purchased a Kingston 16 GB Class 4, one off the the "approved" list and my Focus didn't even register a bump in storage.

CJ - I'm pretty sure you have to reset and format the card in order for it to register.

OP - I've been using a Samsung 16gb class 2 for almost 3 months now without any problems at all. Its been the most recommended one on XDA as well. $25 on eBay. All the 32gb cards I tried gave me resetting issues.

Microsoft has warned from day 1 to use only approved SD Cards for the Windows Phones... So be careful which you choose. It could screw up your phone if it's not it.

Which 32GB cards have you tried? I just ordered another 32GB (this time a Patriot card) because my first one SanDisk 32GB (Class 2) finally stopped working... the phone won't boot at all if the card is in. Previous to that I was suffering from random reboots as many others are.

How do I go about this?

(I will edit this post if I find it myself tonight)

    EDIT: Wow a hard reset.

I have some games I am in the middle of and don't want to loose my progess. Anyone know if the backup tool that will be released for the update allow for me to back up, add storage, then restore?

Sandisk and Kingston. I'm really doubting that any 32gb card works.

The Samsung 16gb class 2 has nothing but glowing reviews from multiple individuals on the XDA board. If you care to read through it all, the thread is here. Would look more towards the end of the thread as the first post hasnt been updated since thanksgiving

Okay, well I feel a little bit better knowing you haven't tried the Patriot one I just purchased. It's a Patriot 32GB rated at Class 10. I installed it today and so far it's worked fine. I'll sync my music collection and install all of my apps tonight and report back in a couple days. Hopefully I don't experience the random reboots like I was before.

there are no official approved cards.

i bought a 16gb at microcenter (microcenter brand) because i read over at xda that they have worked well. i personally have had no problems with mine, and i bought my phone back in november. they are really cheap, too ($25 with tax). so, if you have a microcenter in your city, definitely try it because it's cheap if it works and easy to return if it doesn't.

They really need to get this sd card thing sorted out. The new wp7 consumer is not going to be able to understand why they can expand the storage, yet there are no cards available yet which you are allowed to use; or that when they go buy one, it doesn't work or malfunctions.

What is the reason that regular sd cards don't just work? What exactly are they doing to the card? Seems like it is just creating chaos and confusion lol.

The WP7 OS essentially creates one storage container across the internal storage and the external storage (microSD), similar to a RAID stripe set. This can increase performance, but it can also decrease performance (or cause instability) if one of your storage mediums is slower than the other. Based on what many others have said, it seems that the random read speed of the microSDs are not fast enough to keep up with the internal storage, so it is causing problems (random reboots, etc.).

I got a new Patriot 32GB Class 10 earlier this week and it has been flawless. With my Sandisk 32GB Class 2 I received random reboots 1-2 times per day sometimes, and I haven't had one reboot yet with the Patriot. I still have my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the reply. I just hope they can make this nice and simple for regular folks to understand, otherwise will create a large problem with people taking phones in for "repairs" ect.

Any word on when they will have some "supported" sd cards out? Should have been done at release. Having to "hope" an sd card works when you buy it is not good. I get different accounts of what works and what doesn't.

Still can't find any "MS Compliant" lists or anything.

So just as an update. That Patriot 32GB Class 10 card has worked fine now for over a week. I haven't had any of the problems I was experiencing with the Sandisk card (random reboots). I've even noticed that my apps list almost never shows the default "star" icon for apps, which would happen pretty often while I had the Sandisk card in the phone.

Also to update, I read the XDA forums and ordered the Samsung 16gb SD card off ebay. 2.5 weeks and no problems so far. It was only $24 on ebay w/ free shipping. The seller was great as well (I'm not affiliatiated w/ the seller). I'd love to find a 32, but for now this comes highly reccomended and is def cheap enough to give it a shot.
