Dear colleagues:

I'm trying to play 4k HDR films in MKV. I've tried several players, and there's no way.

Does anybody tried, and if so, which player and configuration?

I guess the hardware od this windows tablet is too weak.

I've tried, and no it won't work. To be fair, it won't work on pretty much anything. These HEVC files are too much for anything but the latest graphics cards with dedicated decoding units. Perhaps the latest generation of Intel CPUs has something capable enough...

What does work (besides from the performance issues) is MPC-HC as player, use the Lavfilters codec to decode the video and use MadVR as a renderer (though this renderer loves fast GPUs). MadVR does a good job at outputting the HDR video on SDR screens, taking into consideration the peak brightness of the screen (which I have measured to be around 400 nits on the TabPro S).
