Screen Locked - Touch Screen unresponsive

Hello all-

I accidentally hit the "lock" option on my phone and now it wants to me to slide and grey box across the screen to unlock it. However, my touch screen is not working. How to I fix this?

I don't know what to tell you on that one you really have to slide it that's the only way. What happened to your screen.

Last resort would be a hard reset.

You could try pulling the battery and putting it back in. I am not sure that would help, but it might be worth a try.

I tried a soft reset and take out the battery several times... If I do the hard reset, will I lose all my contacts?

I'm not sure what happened to my screen. It lights up to my touch but it doesn't respond when I try dragging the lock icon across the screen.
