Awful ads (and I'm about done with Mobile Nations because of it)

What's up with the full screen Hawaiian Tropic ad that can't be dismissed??? If you click on the X, it just comes back over and over.

The Mobile Nations sites are far and away THE WORST sites that I visit when it comes to ads. Between obtrusive ads that don't work right to terrible coding that can render a $2000 i7 PC with 32 GB of RAM to it's knees, you leave your users no options but to use an ad blocker.

Over the past few years there has been plenty of feedback from readers that the ad experience here is unacceptable but nothing has been done to address this. Don't want visitors to use an ad blocker? Do something about the complaints that people have and make your sites usable without them!

Windows Central is the only MN site I regularly visit anymore, because I've been coming here the longest and there's a smaller pool of sites with Windows content compared to other topics. There's no point in going to the other sites because there are plenty of other sites out there that give a much better experience. Please stop shooting yourself in the foot and back up the hard work of the content producers with a halfway decent website to showcase that content.

I was coming here to say basically this. Over the last 3 days I have gotten two full screen pop ups. And I can't get rid of them or back out. I have to close safari and relaunch the site. The first was for "tinder" and featured 3 women, 2 of which were topless. I'm married and don't want to see that crap. The second just happened and was a generic "your iphone has a virus" crap. Every other site that gives me these ads I block from Cortana. Just yesterday I blocked Smithsonianmag for doing it. I too am about done. Between the vr porn features every 4 weeks and these ads I've lost interest in the site. I use to watch all the game streams, listen to all the podcasts, hover over the really good articles. Now I resort to a few other websites more often and just read the blogs Microsoft has. Better than dealing with the ads or lack of community because I have adblock on so I can't comment or participate anymore. I'm assuming its the adblock. Or bad site design. I don't know which.

I now only ever look at mobile nations sites using their apps on Android. Unusable in a browser on any device.
The only thing that struck me as I typed this was paranoid. If they don't serve the huge volumes of ads while using the app, in what other way are they earning money from me?

I whitelisted this site on my ad blocker but have now blocked ads on the site again, just opening one WC webpage in edge consumes nearly a gig of ram, blocking the ads helps somewhat but until you guys can sort your coding out the ad block is staying on

I gotta agree. It's not even the number of ad slots for me, but there must be some really badly made ad creative and scripts running because sometimes the page won't even finish loading for me. I just got some very herky-jerky behavior on a forum page too.
