Isn't a Bluetooth smartwatch redundant??

I think all the current smartwatches are completely pointless. Why do I want ANOTHER thing that can do the same thing the phone (that I have to have on me and connected to the watch) can do?

All these devices are redundant until you can detach it from the phone and run solo, or at least allow some type of separation where without the phone it can still get cell data for email and texts, etc. Maybe only require phone for actual calls...now THATS what MS needs to do... Sell millions

Watchphones have been around for a few years. Samsung have just launched one too.
There's plenty of people who don't see the use for tethered smartwatches. And plenty that do. I'm all for it - being able to discretely decline a call, see if an email's important etc and actually have a watch to check the time on.
