It should work well with everything that does not require a lot of GPU strength. It can handle most of the tasks that an average student would do out of the box, but can offer even more if you upgrade the system to Pro.

It is supposed to have great battery life, it looks really well and is thin and light. Don't know what else would an average student need (except maybe a type-c port and a kickstand).

Will the surface laptop fulfil all needs of college students?

tushar, it definitely will not fit "all" needs of college students. however, when i was a student everyone i knew had to write reports and do research so in that area of production the needs are fulfilled. my needs were definitely different from music majors, art majors, medical majors, etc. but we all had those basic tasks in common.

It's going to be awesome for students, it's going to handle everything they need - reading a lot of materials on High DPI screen, perfect for writing, touchscreen and a pen for adding some quick notes into the PDFs, great screen and audio for Netflix. Also every student goes through a stage of creativity and it's good for working with photos, audio, even some light video editing should be just fine.

The only limiting factor here are the available applications. But that's just a matter of time.

hey there. yeah the only limiting factor is the applications. hopefully many mainstream desktop apps make the jump to uwp. who wouldve guessed itunes would be in the store right?! anything is possible.
