Why are people still confused between the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro?
I mean, it comes down to form factor eventually doesn't it?

It does but some people apparently think it's all the same or just can't navigate the site properly and think that Surface Laptop = Surface Pro (2017) since MS markets the new Surface Pro as a laptop.

it does come down to form factor, but the problem (in my opinion anyway) is with Microsoft's marketing. They dropped "the tablet that can replace your laptop" line and have adopted "the most versatile laptop" instead. Mind you, the tablet market is shrinking so it makes sense that they would shift away from marketing the Surface Pro as a tablet. But considering they just announced the Surface Laptop it's not surprising people are confused.

true. it could be that the surface pro is marketed as a laptop. i feel like ive seen more promotional pictures of the surface pro 2017 as a laptop with the keyboard attached, than without it.

valid points. its kinda interesting that the surface pro is marketed as "the most versatile laptop" when the type cover is not even included. even if it were included which brought the price up to a little over $950 (or possibly cheaper since its a bundle) its still cheaper than the surface laptop.

Very true. And the Surface Pro 4 also runs full-blown Windows 10 on it from the store, which makes it more versatile overall and better value for money than the Surface Laptop.

out of the box settings, yeah youre right about the surface pro 4 as it can do more in running software. interesting catch phrase choice from the surface team and i can understand why they didnt include the pen but not sure why they excluded the type cover for "the most versatile laptop".

Since you can make the Laptop run full 10 easily, the differences are purely hardware. Evaluate based on that, at least until the end of the world.

xandros i agree. either that, or if you cant afford the laptop but need a device then go with the surface pro 4. its 100 USD cheaper than the base surface pro, which makes it 300 USD cheaper than the base surface laptop.
