Hello,

I know there has been no official announcement about the Lumia 930 on T-Mobile but comparing the RF specs for the 930 to that of the 925 which I own and operate on the T-Mobile network it sure appears that the 930 should work on T-Mobile's network. Anyone have any reason to feel otherwise? In the past I ran a 920 on T-Mobile and had some issues because a few of the bands were missing but band for band the 925 and 930 overlap (with one additional UMTS band for the 930 (900Mhz).

Lumia 925 Radio Specs:
GSM:
850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
UMTS:
850, 1900, 2100 MHz

Lumia 930 Radio Specs:
GSM:
850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
UMTS:
850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz

At the very least, I think the 930 would probably get 4G or H+ on T-Mobile. I'm not sure about LTE though if the phone has the 1800 and 2600 bands.

The 930 has the 1800 band but not the 2600 band -- then again neither does the Lumia 925 which is T-Mobile official. Is the 2600 band a new LTE band for T-Mobile by chance?

No, I think it's a band used by international carriers. For instance, I've seen it listed on phones coming from Hong Kong. I believe Rogers in Canada uses it as well.

1700/2100 or AWS is what it needs for HSPA+ and LTE band 4 for LTE which i currently don't see as per the OP's post, so i highly doubt the 930 would be coming to T-Mobile US, though a similar variant is possible

Pankaj,

Looking at the Nokia web site specs the only difference I see listed between to two devices, 925 vs 930, is the LTE max data speed (150 Mbps vs 100 Mbps) but the RF bands appear identical. I see no support for the 1700/2100 bands you mention that I guess are present on the T-Mobile network?

Nokia Lumia 925 Specifications - Nokia
LTE network bands: 1, 3, 7, 8, 20.
LTE max data speed DL: 100 Mbps .
LTE max data speed UL: 50 Mbps .

The link you provided for the 925 goes to the global version and not the T-Mobile version. I am not sure if you meant to do that.
In saying this, the LTE band for T-Mobile is 4, and the 930 does not seem to have that as a band.

I was in a T-mobile store yesterday and the guy at the counter said that they weren't being shipped more 925s and they didn't say why so I think that points towards an upgrade, possibly the 930

My Tmobile rep said they're discontinuing the 925 because WP8 wasn't selling well enough and they just plan to stock the 630. Then again Tmobile reps haven't had the greatest track record with me. So I believe NOTHING until I see it.

T-Mobile rep here. This is true. We had to send back all 925 accessories and were told we would not be receiving new inventory on the device. I hope this is to clear stock to make room foe the 930, however I fear the 925 is being replaced by the 635. We still carry the 521, and seemingly will for a while longer. So it seems like tmobile will carry the 521 and 635. Both low end devices. This makes me sad. I hope I'm wrong.

Got a reply from T Mobile on their FB page, I was ranting that I wanted another high end device (specifically the 1520) on TMo in addition to the 521 and 635. I was actually encouraged by the response. Of course it was noncommittal, but the mod stated to watch out for an "exciting" release from TMo in the near future regarding a high end device.

I really hope T-Mobile does get the Lumia 930 (or variant). I currently have the Lumia Icon on Verizon and absolutely LOVE the phone...but I'm getting sick of Verizon and their BS - both wireless and FiOS so I'm looking to move to T-Mobile. The day they start carrying Lumia 930, variant, or better is the day my wife and I become T-Mobile customers.

You could actually use your Icon on T-Mobile as Verizon's Windows Phone are GSM unlocked... The only thing is, you would only get 4G and I know people have been complaining of problems with text messaging (though I'm not sure if that's just MMS or MMS and SMS) with their Verizon Lumias.

So the 925 is going to be another 810, i.e. SOL for support. Fraking Wonderful!!!

Another example for not buying carrier branded/locked devices.

Dude. I will murder someone if I'm stuck with the battery hungry dp. My rage would be enough to send me right into the arms of at&t. Rather pay more a month and get a much wider device selection. Unlimited data isn't worth ****listed device support.

Is tmobile going to offer more windows phones? 1020 and 1520 would be great. AT&T and Verizon seem to get all the better ones, sucks

We can only hope so. That's so true, especially about AT&T. I swear, their customers complain about not having this or that when they have just about EVERYTHING, even the 925 that was supposed to be an exclusive to T-Mobile in the US. Quite annoying considering we never have more than two Windows Phone choices at a time. Seems that soon, we'll only have the 521 and 635, although I read on TmoNews yesterday that there may be a "530" coming as well (I'm doubting that one though since there's been nothing reported about it here to my memory).

Curious aren't their typically multiple versions of a Lumia device worldwide? Is there an international version of the 930 that is closest bands that would work on T-Mobile in the US? A while back I had a 920 on T-Mobile and 4G / LTE were good it was the complete lack of 3G that was a b!tch to deal with due to missing bands on the 920 for T-Mobile 3G network. Where I live in Ohio there is solid LTE and 4G coverage for T-Mobile so I seriously thinking of buying an unlocked 930 and giving a try. Just unsure if there are versions of the 930 or if they are all the same. Thoughts?
