I have just come over to the "Tilt" side after a number of years on the CDMA side with SPCS, then VZW. Prompted to move by my disappointments with the 6800 and Palm's failure to move the next gen Treo to market.

I must say, after about 4 hours looking over my new Tilt, I am terribly impressed at the quality of this device and the software included on the handset. The RAM load out makes the device worth having and worth moving over from CDMA to GSM (64 MB 6800 - WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?). The software load, even after ditching the AT&T "bloatware" is very impressive. What other carriers give you a first-rate full function back-up package in the handset?

I live in an area unlikely to see HSDPA for a while yet and am on the fringe of the AT&T service at home, yet the EDGE service is certainly tolerable. I'm looking forward to traveling and seeing what the HSDPA hype is all about.

Overall, I have to say that AT&T seems to have gotten this one right. Time will tell for me though. Presently, I'm very impressed.

Thanks to all who helped me make this decision.

Now you just need to go over to XDA_Developers and load up with all the great software apps available there. I recommend HTC Home, HTC Audio Manager and HTC Album.

Or just install the HTC ROM, that's what I have installed on my tilt and it runs very smooth with all those plugins built into the HTC ROM.
