hello
i received my new 1020 the other day to replace my SONY Z. i've had NOKIA's since 1997 and thought id try the Z but im back.
along with many things im unsure about with the 1020, i have installed whatsapp. its bugging me like mad that i have to open whatsapp to receive msg's. i have no indication of a msg on any screen untill i open whatsapp. my signal is fine and i have tried it on wi-fi with the same outcome. i have heard an msg come though afew times but again no indication of a msg untill a awake the phone and check whatsapp. i have missed called, sent texts and emails with all showing up on the lock screen but no whatsapp notices. i cant seem to find any setting to amend this problem. can anyone help?
on another note, when i have the black screen with the time on it, there is no indication of anything (missed calls etc) so i have to 'touch' my phone to see if i have recieved anything. why oh why isnt there a breath light on it? cant say i know a phone that doesnt and that includes past NOKIA's.
i have 12days left till i can send it back but im trying to give it benefit of dout

You have to manually set WhatsApp to show on the lockscreen in the phones settings. I am also having issues with WhatsApp not pushing messages lately. As far as I know, its an App issue.

Glance and the lockscreen are two different things. You cannot view anything on the Glance screen, for now. An update is coming though.

glance screen is the black screen with the time on it?
if that is the case, it shows i have the phone on vibrate only. i find it abit lame of nokia not to even have a thought that ppl want to see if they have any notifications without 'opening' their phone. (N8 had this function along with a breath light)
say i leave my phone next to my bed and go downstairs, while im downstairs i receive a text/call. i return upstairs and there is no indication on my phone i have received anything. is nokia's plan that you have to constantly check your phone to see if you have received anything? what is nokia thinking when they designed this phone??
im a mechanical engineer and i work in oily/dirty places, i generally leave my phone where i can see it, i look at it for indication of anything (mainly a breath light), i dont want to keep having to clean myself just to check my phone to see if i have received anything.
on the whatsapp issue, i now keep seeing a notice saying there is a fault with the push notifactions and i must restart my phone, which i do and have done at least 4 times on seeing this notice.

hope so,
i have noticed, if you charge the phone while its switched off the windows button flashes.....surely incorporating that into a notification while in glance made would be pretty simple, least you know you have recieved/missed something.
also, my phone starts itself when on charge. is this normal?

I would love for the Windows button to act as a notification. Yeah, it is normal for the phone, to turn on when its being charged. Not sure why though.
