Anyone experiencing weaker or no LTE connection with the Windows 8.1 update? I have the 1520.3 RM-380 version and had great LTE prior to the update.

I have a 925.. and all my signals are weak.. Wifi at home and work plus 3g data connection.. im hoping this is temporary

I actually tried a hard reset hoping the issue would go away. Sadly, it didn't. I still seem to have weak connection with 4G and also Wi-Fi.

My 1520 is experiencing this too. I'm a bit curious though.
It might not actually be that the phone itself is receiving a weak signal, it could just be that the algorihtm that the phone uses to show what signal strength is being received is defective or changed.
I.e, if the phone before 8.1 showed 4 bars it actually was only 3.5 (I am unsure as to whether the phone rounds it up or down).

I might be completely wrong but if I recall correctly a similar change was made to an iOS update some years ago.

Is there a way to change the bars to actual dB value in Windows Phone?

Even so, the phone IS slower as a result of this. If it is some algorithm that is either mis-reading or mis-interpreting the actual signal strength, the phone is taking that data and performing in accordance to what it's reading? In other words, it used to have strong LTE, and the phone's speed was LTE. Now, my phone gets H+ or H and as a result is as slow/fast as H+ and H when I use it.

Try to reboot your WP by pressing volume up button and power button simultaneously for about 15 seconds. ( stop pressing when a black screen appear. )

Do you mean a soft reset? I think that's power DOWN button and power button simultaneously. Volume UP and power button takes screenshot snapshots. I have tried soft resetting multiple times. Doesn't help. I even tried a hard reset and it didn't help.

Yes it first take a screenshot but then if you continue pressing it will reboot your phone

lumia 625 has edge connection after 8.1 developers update.I used to have lte before.Strange that my wifi is blazingly fast, just as fast as my lte used to be.Go figure with microsoft.

Kinda wanted to share this here instead of starting a whole thread just yet...Not going to go into detail on how I did this but it's possible to enable LTE bands on this phone. Maybe that might be of benefit for some, so soon I could put a tutorial together.

I just bought a couple of these to test out and find out more about them, and wanted to get at&t hd voice working...still in the process of trying to do THAT though, but thought it was cool that I enabled more bands....

NateW - definitely interested regarding the promise of 21 bands (especially the LTE variety), and even more so if the phone you're using is an RM-938 (1502.3 variant), given online searches for a way to invoke Field Test mode on that specific phone have resulted in no joy.

VoLTE will not work I tried and it just is beyond me. But the bands are all there. They are the same bands enabled as the lumia 950 from at&t. My variant is an RM-940 though.

@turnitonagain
I only own the RM-940, but am on the look out for a RM-938 PCB that I can slap into one of these spare RM-940s I have.
With that said, I have only tested using NVI files from the AT&T variant ROMs of the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. The 950 XL NVI files will not work for some reason.

LTE bands that are available on the RM-940 with updated NVI/Modem settings are LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 20, 29, 30, 41
It also enabled B4-WCDMA US 1700 which I think is not normally set.

The only issue I have experienced so far it's ability to fail back to LTE after receiving a phone call. It seems to get stuck on 4G after it drops to 4G when a call comes or after making a call.

There are other Variants of the 950 and 950 XL for other countries that have additional bands that could theoretically get enabled on the 1520 (RM-938) through the same process, I just do not own a RM-938 yet to test and have not ventured to pull other ROMs from the other variants to extract the NVI files from them to test on my AT&T 1520s.

I will see when I can find time to make another thread soon, to at least show that is possible to enable other bands on the 1520, explaining the process on how to do it too
