Unless there are a LOT of unpurchased 64GB Pros sitting around, I would guess that the initial run estimates of 1MM Pros being shipped was a little off. Either way, 400k in less than a month is pretty good considering how difficult it has been for people to get their hands on the 128GB model. Looks to me that MS should just axe the 64 as well as RT and concentrate on the 128 (or better) Pros.

Earlier on this site, it was posted that about 1.5m were sold, just over 400k on the RT and the rest on the Pro.

Also have to remember how few people actually have access to this. Europe is a pretty much a bigger market than the US and the thing isn't even available here yet.

I don't think the numbers are bad when you consider how radically different the device is. I don't think the world is ready just yet for a device like this, but somehow it won't surprise me that the next iPad might just monkey off all the features off Surface and mainstream them, just cos it's Apple (that said, they do often have very polished implementations, short from their maps :D)

400k is more than good. It's just one month, and most of time there is nowhere to find one. Only in very limited number of BestBuy and about 40 msft stores. I want to do unscientific estimate here, imagine,

1. fully available in all major stores and Amazon, not shortage: 0.4x2 = 0.8m (I have to say by 2 is very conservative)
2. available in all markets world wide: 0.8x5 = 4m (again by 5 is conservative)
3. 3 month instead of 1 month: 4x3 =12m
4. considering new release usually generate more interest, but counter factor is more people would know over time, so I keep 12m no change
5. because I want to be conservative, I disregard the fact Q1 is slow season, keep 12m no change.

12million, folks, can anyone find an example of $1000 of anything in the world selling in the volume?

So, obviously 400K pro sales is fantastic, not just good.

Take it for what it's worth. Best Buy employees know the difference between RT and Pro and consistently say it is selling well. This is an improvement over the past view months. I have also ran into several people who out of the blue mention they bought a Surface and love it.

This is more than amazing!
