Hi I am a student, and I purchased the surface go 4gb ram model. I really like the product as it's lightweight and suits my needs, but I am wondering if paying 150 more for 8gb of ram is really necessary. I only use the product for HW, occasionally some light gaming, reading and watching movies/videos. It is my main device but I am a minimalist. Would you say it is good enough for me? And how long do you think it would last me for in comparison to the 8gb model? Thank you.

Wrong board (this is Surface Laptop). Personally, I would opt for the 8gb model to offer some more futureproofing.

You seem happy with what you have, state your a minimalist, and it does what you need well. If you forsee your needs changing in the relative near future, get 8GB. If not, save that money. You seem happy now.

I think the 4gb model, for what it's capable of, is sufficient. I still have a few 4gb devices, and about the most you'll encounter is loading up a browser with a bunch of pages that eat through your memory, but 4gb is enough to handle that.

When 8gb becomes the bare minimum, I don't think the Surface Go will cut it anyway, even if it has 8gb ram.
