I know what you mean and don't get me wrong, I know it will not make any faster than 32bit processors. But they are more stable and more secure in terms of virus or hacking. That's how I see it to work. Maybe a gimmick but is also future proof as well.I'm sure it has been debated a lot, but I personally just see it as getting stuff ready for when it does happen, and just being able to market such a thing. (ooohhhh 64! its better! faster! 200x!)
