Guys like Blade2032 should have blessings poured upon them by the WM Gods!!! He has made a very cool and handy app for many of the most common hacks you would want to make with the 6800 without having to touch the reg. With a click of a button you can:

  • Change the Camera Orientation to Landscape or Portait
  • Disable SMS Sent message
  • Improve A2DP quality
  • Stop the LED blinking lights
  • Change the SMS sent text
  • Change the scroll bar widths
  • Show title bar clock
  • PIE 4-way nav
  • Custom Today Screen Text
  • Change the Operator Name
  • Vibration Strength
  • Add the EVDO time and disconnect button
  • Change the color of a lot of different text and other items.

PPC-6800 Hacks - 1.05
By: Blade2032

Description: Want to unleash the full potential of your PPC-6800? Then you've come to the right place!

There any many hidden options within the operating system, that usually would require you to hack the registry of your device yourself. But with this program, it will do it for you, quickly and easily. Want an option on for a few minutes? No problem! Just uncheck it!

This program is mainly for those who either don't feel comfortable editing the registry themselves, or just want an easy way to change an option quickly. This program does NOT make these hacks any less dangerous, so make sure you know what each one does before changing it.

The best thing about it.....it is FREE!!!!! Just go here, register, and download!

first of all....WELCOME TO WMEXPERTS!!!!!

With this one, no. It even stops the BT LED, which is one that I would personally like to keep on.

Another possibility is this cool little solution that stroths and codyppc put together:

LED Killer 3.1

I am going to try this one so I can keep my BT LED light....it might still show missed messages alerts too, I am not sure.

Both will still show when you are charging for sure.

New to the phone hack thing. Pretty cool!

Installed the PPC-6800 Hacks - 1.05, but of course it kills all blinking lights. I hated the blinking green, but could still use the others.

Question, think I can activate the lights with 1.05 but then install the LED Killer 3.1 to kill the green one only? Think both tweaks can live with each other????

Well, Blade2032 said that his PPC-6800 tweak is simply a registry editor not a running program. You can make your changes then even uninstall the tweak if you want and the changes will stay. That being said and per Blade2032, we should be able to run all the changes you want with his mod, but leave the blinking light option untouched. (His light tweak kills all lights except the charging light.... I'm not too fond of that part of it.)

Then install LED Killer 3.1 to use their version of the light kill option. I'll try it over the weekend and report back.

Anyone know of a hack to make the screen switch faster? My buddy had one for his old 6700, and I find that my screen is a second or two behind the keyboard slide. The keyboard lights don't light up as fast as I'd like either, even with the sensor off.

Hobbes - do you have the vibrate conflict with this program? Was reading over at PPCGeeks and there was a thread about the LED part of this program disabling the vibrate part of a "ring and vibrate" setting.

Yes.....I think I do. While I was on the road this week I noticed that. I just assumed that I checked the wrong box in this program. If this is a common issue, it might be unexpected side effect. If this is the case, I will enable the lights in the PPC-6800 Hacks program and use the LED 3.1 from PDAphoneHome for the lights....which is what I was going to try anyways so I could get my BT light back.

Doom, Try this...

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
Changed limit from 16384 to 32768

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS
Changed - CacheSize to 4096

BTW Hobbesie - the LED 3.1 program works well. No flashing green light for signal - but you get all of the other notifications. Now, if I could just program the charging light to be off at night (aka Butler for the Treo), it would be perfect!

Any idea how to undue the registry edits without a reset? I have tried unchecking the boxes and soft resetting, but still have vibration issues.

now that i have found this great site today (wmexperts). i will post a version for stroths and I's LED KILLER 3.1 here for the rest of us. i like this version as well. something i didn't know about blades app and for that matter any reg edit to stop the leds, it that you also loose vibrate. which is a must for me.
