Hopefully I'm just missing the setting somewhere. The wife has an 822 and since the Amber update the screen doesn't turn off during phone calls so when she puts it to her ear she'll either hang up, or mute her mic. Can someone help me locate the setting that will address this?

Thanks in advance.

You can check the proximity sensor, which is what it might be. Call her, and instead of putting her face to the phone, have her place her finger above the phone lengthwise along the top over the front facing camera and area. If the screen doesn't go black, then it's the proximity sensor and you'll need to contact your provider.

Reboot works. Wish I didn't need to reboot the phone. Happens too often. does this happen with other Windows Phones, or just Lumia?

If it is constantly happening, it is your phone. I have the 822 and the 928 and neither one have this problem.

This may be a problem with the Amber update. My wife and father both have 822s and both have had this issue pop up in the last few months.

I second that. It's highly likely to do something with the OS (since Amber update) and do not think its the hardware. I have a Lumia 820 and my wife has 822. Both suffer from the same symptoms and a reboot fixes them for a while.
