I just read the article on the front page that says the 822 might be outselling the 920. Does anyone else find that a bit surprising? I didn't think the 822 would outsell the 920, but as far as Verizon doing well with WP that isn't surprising to me. I really think after Verizon gets a high end Nokia they will end up outselling AT&T in the WP world. Thoughts?

I really hope so. Windows Phone and Nokia need as many top sellers as possible. It's a little surprising considering the hardware superiority of the 920, but Verizon customers have been waiting much longer for good WP devices. It also goes to show that Nokia's exclusive apps and support haven't gone unnoticed. Nokia is the OEM to beat with no challengers in sight. And dare I say, Verizon did a better job at marketing the 822 with their Valentine sale and low price. It's currently free on their site.

I think VZW had much better deals than AT&T. Many customers probably got the 822 since it was pretty cheap.

VZW has always had pretty good deals for new products. I think Android took off since VZW had the BOGO deals on the OG Motorola Droid. The T-Mobile HTC G1 wasn't exactly anything to cause Android to take off. When VZW started selling the Motorola Droid that's when Android really started to take off.

I think VZW getting the 928 could help WP a lot, especially if VZW has some sweet deals on it.

I'm a bit surprised myself. But with Verizon being bigger and the 822 being the better WP option, maybe I shouldn't be. And I agree they could really make some waves with their 920 variant. More sales is a win for the platform. It's going to be interesting to watch.

I also think another factor is contracts. VZW didn't really have any Windows Phones until the HTC Trophy, which was out almost 2 years ago. So many customers were eligible to upgrade to the 822 (or any other device).

On the other hand, AT&T customers who got the 900 or Titan 2 upon release aren't eligible to upgrade until this fall. I'd like a 920, but I'm not going to pay full retail for it. However, I'll probably be able to get the Pureview camera Lumia, since it should be out when I'm eligible for an upgrade.

I think both the 920 and 822 have pretty good pricing. I paid $100 for my 822 on launch day and at the time the 920 was the same price plus the charging plate. Now the 822 is practically free and you can get two 920's and a charging plate for $100. I wonder how well the 8X would be doing if it was the same price as the 920 because it's a pretty solid phone too. All in all this is pretty good for WP if the Nokia phones are selling well. I was reading a post by Mr. Macphisto earlier where he says Verizon is going to push their 920 variant hard, even more than the Galaxy S4. That will be pretty good if true.
