One of the issues that the Surface Duo's form factor presents is the inability to check a notification, or the time of day, or the weather, without cracking the device open. This is a con when compared to modern smart phones which allow you to do all of the above by simply taking your phone out of your pocket and lifting it towards your face. Many modern smart phones have even adapted the much beloved "glance" screen of the Lumia series.

Wearables are an obvious workaround for this lack of functionality. Something on your wrist that will give you notifications, time of day, and weather all with a simple glance at the watch face.

Given all of the above, it would make sense for the Surface team to go ahead and design a smartwatch of some sort to accompany the Duo. But we have no indication that something like that is in development. And, unless we hear something soon, it's unlikely that we will have a smartwatch in the next year.

So, barring any surprises from the Surface team, what wearable are you going to use to accompany your Surface Duo?

Interesting concept. I wonder how clunky it'd be to have the two devices connected. I see the option to pair the two together via Verizon at $10/month. It'd need to have smooth transitions between the two devices to be worthwhile. Like the ability to answer a call on either device, or text from either device.

I think i'd still prefer a wearable so that i don't need to worry about carrying another thing in my pocket.

Seeing that it runs Android, you could use any of the WearOS devices, no need for Microsoft to develop one (as nice as that may be). There are lots of good WearOS devices/watches already, pick whichever one you like the style of the most.

Truth be told, I don't want Google on my wrist. So i'm personally avoiding Fitbit and WearOS devices. Currently rocking a Garmin Vivoactive 3. Does a great job tracking my runs as well.

I'll probably use my Fenix 5X plus titanium, like I currently do with my Pixel 4 XL, I actually love my Fenix it does everything I want for fitness and has the notifications from my smartphone that can easily be accepted or rejected, it has fantastic battery life also.
