One of the issues that the Surface Duo's form factor presents is the inability to check a notification, or the time of day, or the weather, without cracking the device open. This is a con when compared to modern smart phones which allow you to do all of the above by simply taking your phone out of your pocket and lifting it towards your face. Many modern smart phones have even adapted the much beloved "glance" screen of the Lumia series.
Wearables are an obvious workaround for this lack of functionality. Something on your wrist that will give you notifications, time of day, and weather all with a simple glance at the watch face.
Given all of the above, it would make sense for the Surface team to go ahead and design a smartwatch of some sort to accompany the Duo. But we have no indication that something like that is in development. And, unless we hear something soon, it's unlikely that we will have a smartwatch in the next year.
So, barring any surprises from the Surface team, what wearable are you going to use to accompany your Surface Duo?
