Given the newfound attention Windows has been enjoying by designers lately, I was very surprised when a friend complained that they couldn't find a portfolio app for their Surface. They had an ipad app to display their portfolio during interviews and events but were seemingly out of luck on windows. I knew there were some high profile artists that use their surface as a main drawing tool, i.e. Gabe of Penny Arcade, so I figured it might be an unserved niche on the Windows platform and got to work.
I've finally completed v1 and I would love to get some feedback from the forum audience here. The app can be downloaded here. It's currently only available in the US/Canada/UK and a few others but I'm working on expanding that.
The general premise is that rather than slide through a bunch of images in a directory, you arrange the images into projects/columns. Sliding up and down moves within the project and you can move between projects by sliding left and right. Very simple and lets you navigate back and forth between the projects quickly and easily to respond to specific questions. I've tried to include some interesting animations and worked hard to keep it looking good.
It's called LIO and I hope you check it out!
