Maybe, this has been posted before, but I just discovered it myself, and find it to be a very cool feature.

when the phone is locked, and I get a text message, I can just expand the message on the lock screen by swiping down, and then send a reply without having to unlock the phone!

I tried doing the same with email, but when I swipe down, I can read the full email but cannot reply without unlocking the phone.

Never-the-less, this feature with text messaging is terrific!

any one else discover cool features that might not be widely known?

Its done that for me since day 1. gsansen is correct make sure you have notifications set to display on the lock screen.

Hmmm just tried it... Swiping down does nothing form me on the glance /lock screen

Hey Jaime,

I just received a "battery is fully charged" notification on my locked screen, and wanting to try gsjansen's little discovery I tried sliding the notification down. I did it slowly at first, and it only flirted with opening (came down about a half inch and then retracted), so I tried if with a little more pressure and a quick swipe down and it worked!!!

Great little discovery gsjansen....THANK YOU :)

It's been here since day one, and very cools apps like Tweetium (3rd party twitter app) uses the same notification system to respond the message from the notification. The Xbox app too. (And soon the FB app will be able to do the same - at least it's what they said)

Yes i'm loving this kinda text reply. But like i voted in the user voice, i'd like to see the same for all messaging apps, fb chat, skype, etc... That would be awesome so you don't have to leave your screen to respond.

That would be pretty handy for work too.

If you sync Skype with the Messaging app, you can do it :-)
We're supposed to also get a new (fb) Messenger app, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Whatsapp doing the same

Yes, imagine sending an email reply while replying on skype, without leaving your page :)

I did, and it works like that yeah. If i remember correctly i could even reply to facebook comments like this awhile back, perhaps in FB Beta :)

Another option if you don't like having the screen light up every time like it does when you set notifications to display on lockscreen is to keep that function off, but turn on "Show notifications in action centre when my phone is locked". You can reply to messages by waking the phone and then swiping down from the top to bring down the action centre. No need to completely unlock it, and the messages won't light up the whole screen which I find very annoying.
