A WP 7/8 laking feature that should be brought to attention

Now don't get me wrong, I love Windows Phone just about as much as any of you would; but a very basic feature that some how seems to be very overlooked, it that I cannot simply move the cursor between two letters in a word. It is select the whole word, or nothing! What is up with that?
