Hey, I looked through the forums but couldn't find it, so if it's been covered before please just redirect me.

I've been running the Windows 10 tech preview since last November, doing an inplace upgrade from my Windows 7 install, and the activation portion worked at first and then decided I need to reactivate a couple months ago.

Now that the OS is released for real, I'm not sure that I'm on the latest version (issue #1) and I'm not sure how to tell and it still wants me to activate but I don't know how since typing my Windows 7 key won't work. I'm not reinstalling Windows 7 (which I don't even have a dvd for anymore) just to reupgrade to my current OS. How do I turn a Windows 7 key into a Windows 10 key?

I'm also getting (and have for months) the DNS name not found error on the activation screen.

If it's not activating, you have no choice. You will need to find a windows 7 iso, install it. Then use the windows 10 media creation tool to install windows 10. The windows 7 key has to be upgraded to a windows 10 key and the only way to do that is by upgrading from 7 to 10
