Windows Central Question

I have setup a password to login into my Windows 10 account. I very often put the desktop in "sleep" mode when I go away and noticed that, sometimes, the password is NOT asked when I "awake" the computer. Most of the times it is asked, as it should be.

I looked at many places, in the "events log" but couldn't find anything.

Any suggestion ? Thank you!

Hello,

First, double-check that you have the settings set:

  • Click "Start"
  • Type "Password"
  • select "Sign-in Options"
  • Under "Require Sign-in" make sure 'When PC wakes up from Sleep' is selected

Also - On that same page below 'Require Sign-in' is a "Dynamic Lock". Do you have this on, or any other devices paired to the PC (Bluetooth, etc...)? If this setting is turned on and you have something like a phone paired via Bluetooth- try turning off the Dynamic lock setting. Very unlikely that a Bluetooth mouse paired to the device is causing the issue, but just in case you could try turning off the mouse also when putting the PC to sleep.
