I updated galance and it asked me to restart then I lose all my data

After I upgraded my Lumia 920 to WP8.1 I notice it burns out the battery much faster than before. I have the glance feature enabled so I tried to disable it. But WP prompted me that there's an update for glance needs to be installed before changing the setting. So I clicked the "Update" button. Then it tried to reboot the phone. I didn't pay attention to the phone until 40 mins later then I found the phone asked me to select the "Language" and other settings. It seems like the phone was completely reset to factory setting. All my videos, recent photos and some other app data are completely lost. This is a really stupid bug, and I will definitely lose the confidence on WP if my important data is not found

thats shocking and scary
try a data recovery program such as recuva in case theres a chance of getting atleast some data back

Try a soft reset, it might fix it

Recuva is useless here since Windows Phones, at least some, don't connect as a mass storage device.

Make sure you restore backups, check OneDrive for media.

yeah i realized later that its a 920 not a wp with an sd card
