Hello, I have been having this problem for a few weeks now. When I bought new speakers. At first, I thought it was the speakers their self so I took them back and bought another new one. I even tried the laptop with different ones that work on my TV still the same distortion but my onboard speakers work just fine. I tried both speakers on another TV and laptop they work fine. Not sure what caused it to do this but it is. I tried the updates & everything to fix this nothing works. Here is the sound clip of it.

I clearly heard the distortion you are speaking about. Not sure how to fix it, BUT I do have a couple suggestions. First thing make sure the 3.5 jack on the laptop is free of dust. Softly blow in it, or use compressed air. Or try a toothpick, and VERY carefully probe the port for dust bunnies.

Maybe you need to tweak the sound drivers? I'm not sure how to access these settings on an ASUS ROG system, BUT I found this on the ASUS support site....

I would also suggest checking the connector port and also make sure you insert the cable fully. Furthermore, check to see if any new drivers are availabe for your soundcard.
