I have an unlocked Italian 920. It is my second 920 because my first one fell and broke to the point it could not be repaired.
When I first received it, everything worked great. Popped in an AT&T SIM and I was good to go. Since I speak/read Italian getting through the setup was easy enough and then after everything was done, I just set it to English and I was off and running with zero issues.
After Amber update pushed out by AT&T, I started to have issues -- I lost SMS support. I did not care too much, so I just lived with it. But, I also had battery issues I did not have and random apps stopped working but would work again when reinstalled.
After Cyan update pushed out by AT&T, the problems became worse. The phone was often unstable. Features randomly stopped working for no reason.
My option was to throw the phone off the tallest building I could find, or look for a solution. I have several posts on here asking various questions. I finally gave up. Then I saw a post on here that Microsoft updated Nokia Lumia Rescue to Lumia Rescue. Once I found time on one Saturday, I gave it a try. The update took some time. Loading all my apps again took even longer. After a final reboot -- tada -- success!
It has been over a month now. SMS, magically works again. My phone can go an entire 12hr work day and still have plenty of charge to make it home although I used it all day long. No more random features not working. All of my apps work.
Either my Amber update was screwed up and further screwed up by Cyan, or, AT&T sucks. I will go with AT&T sucks. They were ZERO help at the store in that their associates did not even know how to use the phone. Tech Support sucked, happy to sell me a new phone. Kudo's to a Microsoft Store employee who was willing to take my phone and use the Rescue software on it for me, I just did not want to leave my phone because at least voice and txt msg worked and I could limp by with what I had.
Just posting this in case anyone else is struggling with the 920. Very happy my phone works again. Hate that I struggled for so many months. Next time, I will give Rescue a try before going nuts.
