Another one bites the dust (Ring.com app)

We’re reaching out to let you know that the Ring App will no longer work on Windows 10 mobile devices after April 10, 2018. However, you can still monitor your home and review Ring videos with any desktop computers, laptops and tablets equipped with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (Version 1709) or newer.

If you purchase a new Ring device in the near future, it will need to be setup on an Android or iOS mobile device.

Most customers chose the products so they could be notified in real time when the Ring devices are triggered. That doesn't happen with a tablet or laptop. Nor is it reasonable to expect existing customers to change phone platforms just so Ring can avoid maintaining a critical component of the product for the remainder of the product's warranty.

Should we expect to see a commercial soon where a Ring customer is looking at a video made hours or days before and yelling at nitwits on their lawn who have long ago carted away everything that wasn't nailed down? Ring's commercials show that Ring is marketing the real-time interaction with the devices.

Which is why I assume Ring has refunded the purchase price for Windows mobile customers that had the rug pulled out from under them.
