Any VivoTab owners install the updates (patch)?

I installed them this evening, and so far it has made a big difference with how quickly everything works. I believe this is similar to the update (patch) the Surface got.

I did. It should be the same patch as it was a Windows RT patch, and the Surface and vivo both use the same processor. I agree that things are much quicker and more stable.
