app scaling

a couple of commercial apps we want to use werent designed for 800x480. Does anyone know of a background app that may allow them to be screen scaled when they run?; or the background app triggered?

I don't think you'll find something like that. Basically the original app needs to have been coded to be 'scalable' or, if you like, to 'use full screen, and reflow stuff to suite' [my words], and if it has not been built that way, there's no way for a third-party ap to reach into the app and rewrite it to become scalable.
