Appointments in past being deleted

I tried the solution below only tasks, not appointments had a "never" solution.
Is there some other way to keep appointments in past from being deleted?

Your phone tries to save itself from downloading too much stuff from the cloud. It helps limit data use and storage space consumption...

Log into your Outlook on the web in a browser > select Calendar > browse back in time... I just did this and I have appointments showing all the way back to 2013 when I started using Windows Phone.
