Ativ S - rapid charge?

I found on Qualcomm website, that Ativ S has "Rapid Charge 1.0" certification. Is it true? But my original charger is only 1A.

Does 'Rapid charge' require a higher rated charger?
I've only had a brief look and it appears to be a feature of Snapdragon processors.

From what I have read, I would say you need a 2A charger to get the best charging time for 'Quick Charge 1.0'.

Yeah, my ATIV S charges about that fast as well. Oddly though that's with a 1.0A charger as well

What?! When I bought my ATIV over a year ago, the average charging time from empty to 100% was about four hours with the delivered 1.0A travel adapter. Since the latest update to 8.1.1, time increased up to six hours however, that's why I always charge my device completely over night. But then, the battery lasts about 2 1/2 days with moderate use (as before of the update).

thats ok, I had the same problem as you. The problem is with the USB cable.. just buy a new classic (cable) charger not the USB type. After this "update" my phone charges in 1h 50 - 2h. 20

Then you are either using it as it's charging or you have a fault with it, mine never takes that long to charge.

Well, since I'm sleeping at night, I'm not using it at all. :wink: Besides that, I've only got cell broadcast activated during charging, most of the apps background activity is disabled. Will check charging time with another adapter, as Pappale recommended.

I don't know what the output of my car charger is (Dude at the Bell store sold it to me with my ATIV S), but it charges the ATIV S faster than the regular Samsung charger. It's probably 2A, because it is designed to charge two phones if you want to.

Original charger supplied with Ativ S (1A, original USB cable):
2 hours charging and 54% increase (from 17% to 71%)

New charger Samsung ETA-U90EB (2A):
1 hour 8 minutes charging and 56% increase (from 36% to 92%)

Now that's strange: Charged my ATIV with a Nokia AC-20E from my Lumia 520, which has an output of only 750mA. Charging time only took half of the time (3h) than with the Samsung charger. Battery life is still around 2 1/2 days.
