how does one weasel their way into unlimited data plan on att? this tiered data is quite annoying. any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

one way, buy out someone's plan, combine your plan with that one, swap the numbers at att, then drop the old line.

the other way is just get Straight Talk and stop dealing with shysters.

Oh that's right. I heard they have websites for that kind of thing.

That's why I wont get rid of my unlimited plan. I hear AT&T will jump through some hoops for businesses though. My Pops just switch over to ATT from Verizon and they pretty much handed him 3 HTC OneXs and discounts galore and he may have gotten the unlimited plan for at least one of his lines...I'd have to double check.

It's not unlimited, they throttle you after 3GB. ST isn't unlimited either, you'll get booted off if they feel that you're putting strain on the network.

Unless you had an unlimited plan from a few years ago (or older), you aren't getting on a new one. Others are right though - if you can buy someone's out and merge, you are good to go, otherwise you have to look elsewhere on other carriers/vendors. I'm on a corporate plan I've had for years with unlimited, but I have to watch any phone upgrades or changes like a hawk, as they'll remove the plan almost every time. Takes a call to the 800# to fix it too, 'cause the reps in the store can't see it (unless looking at my plan with it on there) or change it back. They can break it, but they can't fix it - go figure.

There's a much easier way. First, create a fake identity. You may also want to pay off a few loans to make sure your fake identity has good credit. Second, get a job with AT&T. After being hired, and going through months of training, hack into their computer and give your real account unlimited data. Easy.

1.Get a Lumia 800 or other WP phone that is not sold at ATT.

2.Get or borrow flip phone or other cheap feature phone ATT or Not.

3. Call Att and and tell them that you want to put the feature phone on your line while giving them the IMEI.

4. Request that due to you checking email sometimes on this feature phone that you would like the Non-Smartphone data plan $15/mo or $10/mo with unlimited messaging.

5. Take SIM out of your feature phone

6. Insert SIM into smartphone of your choosing that is unlocked but not branded by ATT.

7. Enjoy unlimited data for the near future.

( I have done this now for the past 6 months and have not been switched over to a smartphone data plan)

Disclaimer:

Prices and participation may vary. Don't see store for details. :)

well, it is unlimited to me because I don't gobble up data like a pig nor do I pay outrageous fees for data I may or may not use.

I leave Slacker Radio streaming 24hrs. a day because I thought the game was the first one to 10Gb/mo wins??!?

4G is too unreliable to run slacker...I run it too but on wifi....but really streaming radio doesn't use that much bandwidth....netflix does though.

If you have an unlimited plan before and you get say a Lumia 900 you will be provisioned with an um=nlimited 4g LE data plan. If you dont already have an unlimited data plan you cant get one. Pre existing plans are grandafthered in.

I've been enjoying my unlimited data since February of 2008. No plans to ever ditch it.

But good luck getting it... You might find the Loch Ness Monster first.

That ship has sailed.

I guess you could get someone to give up their phone number and account and you take it over. But I doubt anyone would do that.

Also FYI, "unlimited" isn't really unlimited. When you hit 3GB of usage on 3G and 5GB on LTE you get throttled down to dial up speeds. Which is pretty much useless then. This is with AT&T.

This is false information, I use slacker whenever I get throttled to EDGE by T-mobile and it works great.
