Windows Central Question

I have XPS L502x, i am facing issue with my audio jacks.
my laptop has 2 audio jacks, 1 for headphones and speakers and other for the S/P DIF.

the issue is -
1- When there is no jack plugged in - it shows both 1 & 2 have plugged in.
2- when 1 is plugged in - it shows no jack is plugged in.
3- when 2 is plugged in it shows 1 is plugged in.

the problem is when i want my built in speakers to have sound i have to plug an empty jack into 1, and i am not able to connect the external speakers.

Hi and welcome to WindowsCentral.

Is it possible that there is some dirt or lint in the audio jacks? Have you tried blowing out the jacks with some compressed air?

Hi! It's also possible that the jack has a physical problem. If using compressed air doesn't fix your issue as suggested by Laura:wink:, a visit to your local repair shop might be needed; it your not handy fixing these things. I'm not handy dissembling a laptop! It would require a lot of effort and a steady hand. I don't have that:smile:
