well, one company is launching a physical product while the other is launching a major OS upgrade for different kinds of devices. Both will take a few weeks to get their releases to all markets.

The difference would be that for one you have to pay and the other is free

Incidentally, to major films are releasing from the Indian film industry on the same day - :smile:

buy it if your current device is dead or dying, no need to get the latest every time it comes out - that's a waste of your resources and environmental resources

Samsung released the Note 5 in August 2015, so this is no different.

Samsung wants to release its new device before the new iPhones are released. iPhones typically are released in September.

Nothing's wrong with that. But why do they need to do it on the exact date that Microsoft is releasing their update.

I'm sure all the media/tech houses will be covering Note7.. No one will be concerned about the anniversary update.

The Note 7 release on August 2 was leaked a week or so before the W10 Anniversary Edition release date was known. So maybe we should reverse the question and wonder if MS wants to steal Samsung's thunder?

More likely it's all coincidence. No conspiracies at all.
