Autocad on surface 3

Do you need autocad, or can you go with a lighter cad program? BRL-CAD or LibreCAD come to mind. If you can stomach a dual boot with Linux, freeCAD?

Thanks. I might go for a full featured laptop in order to have this. I'm going for my masters which has AutoCAD as a subject so I really need an enough-powered machine to do this.

You're better off getting a proper sized laptop with good specs. Especially graphics cards. Just check what autocad requires from hardware and go along with that. A decent sized screen will also help

2gb ram version.. autocad 2016 for sections and plants of an architectural project (last year of architecture university). 4 mb of file. It works soooo well! =)

I ran autocad on my 2010 acer timeline. Worked great. besides ram, my surface has more power in every way so I guess it will run ngood.
