Backed up messages won't come back?

[Windows Central Question]

So my Lumia 520 was acting up a bit so i brought it to a Nokia repair shop. The morning before, I had backed all my data up, so I know I have backed up my text messages. The only problem is, when I eventually got the phone back and after sitting through 2 hours if re-installing apps and updates, my messages haven't returned. Can someone please tell me how to get my messages back? I am on the verge of a breakdown, as they contain very happy memories with my girlfriend. If you know what's wrong please email me at:

I'd wait a while longer, sometimes it takes a while to restore/sync text messages.

Also go into the Messaging settings and choose the sync timeframe you want.

Edit: wow! I can now officially say my post count here is over 9000!
